How to cleanse crystals
"Cleansing" is a crystal tradition for resetting a stone. Physically, you only need to keep it dust-free; the ritual part is up to you.
Popular methods
- Moonlight: leave stones on a windowsill overnight, especially at a full moon.
- Sound: a singing bowl, bell or tuning fork near the stones.
- Smoke: pass stones through incense or sage smoke in a ventilated room.
- Selenite: rest smaller stones on a selenite plate or next to a selenite tower.
- Water: only for hard, non-porous stones such as quartz.
Keep these dry
Selenite, malachite, lepidolite, calcite, pyrite, hematite, rhodochrosite, kyanite, turquoise and other soft, porous or metallic stones.
Keep these out of strong sun
Amethyst, rose quartz, citrine, smoky quartz, fluorite and amazonite can fade.
